Automotive and Marine Based Services includes, but is not limited to, the sale, rental, service washing, installation, detailing, painting, and repair of new or used automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, snowmobiles, tent trailers, boats, travel trailers, recreational vehicles, heavy vehicles, machinery, or mechanical equipment. It includes marina and mooring services, marine equipment rentals, and/or marine based tours, and water related activity, as well as parking lots, parkades, towing services, vehicle ride-hailing services. passenger and cargo transportation services..

Depending on the nature of your business, the following may be required to complete your business licence application:

• Number of employees (your employee count should include the business owner, but exclude contractors/subcontractors as they are required to obtain their own business licences).
• Floor area (m²) of your business location.
• If you operate a parking lot, you will be asked to provide the number of parking stalls.
• Operators of shared or rental e-scooters and e-bikes require a Micromobility Permit from Active Transportation.
• Transportation services with passengers such as taxis, limos, wine tours etc. are required to provide their BC Commercial Passenger Transportation Licence. Commercial vehicles with a seating capacity of 10 or more passengers plus the driver or a gross vehicle weight of more than 5,000 kg are also required to provide their BC Motor Vehicle National Safety Code Certificate to complete their application.
• Transportation network service businesses operating a Ride Hailing business must provide a Transportation Network Service Licence.
• If you are a registered non-profit organization, a copy of your Societies Act Certificate of Incorporation will be required.
