Technology, Communications, Professionals, & Business Services includes, but is not limited to, IT services, data processing, hosting, digital media, graphic design, audio engineers and recording studios, motion picture and video production, photographers, software and video game publishers and other similar or related fields. Newspaper and book publishing, libraries and archiving services, telecommunications, broadcasting companies and other related services are included as well as professionals such as accountants, appraisers, architects, drafting services, engineers, foresters, lawyers, notary publics, surveyors, and other similar or related fields like advertising, marketing, management and consulting companies, collections and security service companies. This option also includes other service groups like religious, political, social advocacy, labour and other membership organizations.

Depending on the nature of your business, the following may be required to complete your business licence application:

  • Number of employees (your employee count should include the business owner).
  • Number of professionals (this would be the number of accountants, lawyers etc. operating at your business location).
  • Floor area (in m2) of your business location.
  • Businesses providing security or investigative services as outlined by the Province of British Columbia need to provide a copy of their Provincial Security Licence.
  • If you are applying for an advertising and marketing licence or a photography, audio and/or video engineering or production licence, and your business operates a drone between 250 grams and 25 kilograms, you will need to provide a copy of your Drone Pilot Certificate.
